This year in school, I was given the assignment of researching and writing a 10-page paper. I chose the topic of literature (no surprise there)—specifically, the topic of literature’s effects on the individual and on society as a whole.
I decided to post the paper here so that others can read it if they want. (Don’t worry, it’s double-spaced so it’s not as long as you think.) Click the button below to download it… enjoy!

One response to “The Effects of Literature”
I finished reading the article. (I’m not this much of a slow reader, I finished reading it a few days ago but didn’t have time to respond) I thought you brought up a few good points. Literature is used as a historical view and influences many cultures, people, and children.
I love on page 7, paragraphs 4-5 & page 8, paragraphs 4-5, how you mentioned the wisdom of God; this world views it as bad advice and advocates this vile behavior. Some people get irritated and wonder why this is happening. At camp joy, pastor John Moore shared a story. While in South Africa, a tribe chef tried to buy his wife with a few cattle. Throughout history, people cast out the Bible more problems occur. A popular one is less respect towards women (Proverbs 29:18).
I also liked when you asked, “Does it applaud and uplift the truth? Does it uphold God’s standards of justice? Are its contents God-honoring?” I see “Christians” who try to keep God’s law but enjoy people breaking the law and are never convicted. The person is more likely to sin.
What more people in this age need to hear God’s view on literature. Thanks for sharing.
