I wrote a short story based on an Instagram comment that gave me the following prompts: “Gunsteel gray,” “the beginning, I’ve heard, is a good place to begin,” “the fritters were tastier than the donuts,” and “sunny with a high of 75.”

This story is about a young man who tries to make a new start in life after an anonymous act of kindness changes his perspective.
