As I sat down to write this post, I knew I wanted to write about a Christmas hymn. But the fact is, there are just too many of them to choose from. So, I decided to provide a list of some obscure Christmas hymns, and I also want to give you all an opportunity to list some of your favorite Christmas hymns\u2014whether well-known or not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christmas is the time of year when we focus on the birth of Christ. However, it would be impossible to confine our celebration just to the incarnation. As Jesus told Pilate, \u201cTo this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While we do rejoice in the miracle of Christ\u2019s birth, and the marvel that God Himself became a man, we also recognize that Jesus did not come just to be born. He came to sacrifice His life for our sins. This is mentioned over and over again in the scriptures, from the men who prophesied of Jesus\u2019 birth, to those who saw and worshiped him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Knowing this, we can see how any good Christmas hymn would extend beyond the story of Christ\u2019s birth and tell of His purpose to redeem all mankind. We often get caught up singing the same hymns (and not just around Christmastime), so it\u2019s good to be introduced to some new ones that might offer a unique perspective on the subject.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So without further ado, here are ten Christmas hymns you might not have heard of before:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
